Favorites from Modern Quilts

I never did post my favorite quilts from QuiltCon 2018 in Pasadena, nor did I buy this book.
But I did check out the book from the public library, and the following were my favorites.

Work in Progress: Sea Motif Embroidery

Yesterday while I was proctoring juniors taking their state math exam, I worked on this.

Work in Progress: My Funny Valentine Quilt

I've been quilting!  And I think I may get My Funny Valentine done in time to enter it into the county fair.  As one can see below, I've decided to just use the running stitch for a majority of the quilt and pondering at the same time how I will stitch the borders and sashing.
Below is my favorite fabric from Cotton + Steel....each day I randomly choose a patch to quilt.
I like this fabric which for me evokes bowling alleys.  A friend last night said this quilt says the 1970s.
Alas!  I had to stop to go to the gig that pays me.  I set my alarm on phone and usually get a good 20 to 40 minutes in the morning to quilt.  A co-worker told me that I should sell my quilts on Etsy, and I said nah, the expense and time it takes to finish one would be cost prohibitive.  I prefer sewing quilts and projects for the ones I love and appreciate.

Ceramics: Horror Head

We were making pumpkins a while back in the studio, but I wanted to make a tall witch's hat and a head to go with it.  This lil guy still isn't done, for I have to epoxy the hat to his head.  But I could not resist taking a pic to envision what he'll look like when done.

Sewing: Hexie Towel

I need a new towel (as well as oven mitt but that'll be for later), and so I finally patched and stitched these hexies that have been in my embroidery box forever.  However, I think the towel needs more stitching.  Therefore, I'm going to lay down more thread with this perle cotton.  Running stitch chevrons I think.  Nah, I like simplicity more.

Insomnia Is a Terrible Thing to Waste

I must be jet lagged because I was super sleepy 10:24 p.m. Eastern Standard time but woke up 1:24 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep.  Of course, I stitched.
However, this hoop needs something more....I don't know what.  An appliqué me thinks, and so this is to be continued.  In the meantime, it's a gorgeous sunny day at Sanibel Beach, and yet I want to just stay in my air-conditioned motel room and stitch some more. But there's exercise and fresh air and more gathering of seashells to be done as well as lunch and perhaps meet friends and do more seaside fun.

Hoop Art

Last night I was en route from San Francisco, California to Fort Myers, Florida.  I am a terrible sleeper on an airplane, but unfortunately there was no light to do any hand sewing or even read.   And then I got stuck on the runway until midnight for my flight to Charlotte, North Carolina and while waiting at that airport, I finally finished the embroidery below.
I don't understand why photos of my Apple watch faces get saved on my phone. I always delete them, but the one below is pretty, and wouldn't it make a pretty quilt block?
