The Kiwi underglazes (and yes I realized that's why they're so named because they came from New Zealand) are not burning out as much as the Western underglazes. I had underglazed another textured platter, which turned out in shades of beige instead of more pale pink, but I'm not mad about it. I like the combination of taupe and pale pinks and pastel oranges or salmon pink.
Overall, I'm not sad about how the sgraffito platter turned out, nor that I Christmas gifted it. I had to post the gift tag because it highlights how much Michaela herself has a sweet tooth, and I just just find this gift tag so funny. While shopping for Nicole's gift, where I needed chopsticks to match the chopsticks rest I got for her at Hakone Gardens, Suruki Supermarket was also having its daily half-off prepared foods sale that afternoon at 4 o'clock. And so I stood in line for my beautiful Japanese dinner.
I didn't capture the cuteness of the blue and white porcelain kitty chopsticks rest, nor the blue and white enameled design on wooden chopsticks for Nicole, but yeah I'll be getting those same chopsticks which I found at Nijiya to go with my blue and white porcelain puppy chopsticks rest. And I'm getting more ideas to make a ceramic sushi board with the floating blue and blushing pink overglaze at Clay Life as well as my own cute little porcelain chopsticks rest.
